Tamaqua Borough Council continued its tradition of honoring Tamaqua student-athletes who have won gold medals at the district level. At Tuesday night's meeting, Tamaqua Area High School track team standouts were presented with commendations. Accepting their awards were Paige Demetriades and Monica Shimko. The awards were presented by Tamaqua Councilman Dave Mace, second from right. Also pictured is Tamaqua track and field coach Tom Kanger. Unable to attend was Tyler Hope (track) as well as members of the boys baseball team, which also took gold at the district level.
