One happy ending

It's always nice when there is a happy ending to a story.

In Josi's case, her happy ending came on July 1.The 5-year-old brindle pit bull, who had been living in the Carbon County Animal Shelter since February, walked through the halls of the shelter one last time after being bathed and brushed. At the end of the hall stood her new family, Kelly and Joe Kilpatrick and their two sons, waiting anxiously to take their new addition home.Kelly said that it was love at first sight when the family saw Josi at the shelter a few days earlier."When we checked out all the other dogs, they all ran up to the cage barking and carrying on," she said. "When we met Josi, she didn't do that. She walked up to the cage and was wagging her tail, and my 5-year-old walked up to her and she tried giving him kisses through the cage."We knew right there that she was our dog," Kelly said. "She didn't bark at us or make a sound, just sat there with her puppy eyes and wanted to give us kisses."So after talking with shelter director Tom Connors and filling out the necessary paperwork, Josi's adoption began. The Kilpatricks decided to keep her name and said she has been a great addition to their growing family."We love her," Kelly said, "and I know she loves us. We are very happy with the choice we made to bring her into our family."Josi has since adapted well to family life outside a kennel, playing with the two boys and settling into each of the Kilpatricks' hearts.
