Tamaqua snow removal begins Friday

The Borough of Tamaqua's Street Department will begin removing snow from selected streets, beginning with the downtown district, on Friday.

The first streets scheduled to be cleaned will include the south side of Broad Street, from the railroad tracks at Patterson Street to Odd Fellows Cemetery; Center Street, both sides from Broad to the SR309 bridge; Greenwood Street, both sides from Broad north to Mauch Chunk Street.Operations will continue on Saturday, targeting the north side of Broad Street, from the railroad tracks at Patterson Street to Odd Fellows Cemetery; Mauch Chunk Street, both sides from Broad to Pine; Pine Street, both sides from Broad to Mauch Chunk Street; Berwick Street, both sides from Broad to Hegarty Avenue; Nescopec Street, both sides from Cottage Avenue to Hegarty Avenue; Swatara, both sides from the iron steps to Lafayette Street.Streets will be posted the day before snow removal operations are to begin. Workers may start anytime after 12:01 a.m., so motorists should be aware any parked vehicles will be subject to ticketing and towing.Schedules depend on work and weather conditions and are subject to change.
