Wind towers are beginning to dot the horizon in the higher elevations in the northern part of Schuylkill County.

The Schuylkill County Zoning Office issued a permit to Communication Energy Inc. to install 16 more towers on a wind farm on land it has leased from the Mahanoy Township Water Authority and the Girard Estate in Mahanoy Township.There are currently 13 such wind towers located in the county.The cost of installing the new wind mills is estimated to be $50 million.
