Area residents aired mixed feelings on the proposed demolition of the Packerton Yards during a meeting of the Carbon County Commissioners.

About 15 people, both local and out-of-town individuals, expressed their concerns about the upcoming project. While some were in favor of economic development of the yards, others pleaded for preservation of the historic 42,000-square-foot building. One speaker said, "The real heritage of this area is the blue-collar workers, not the building."
