Jim Thorpe Council voted Thursday night to place no parking signs on Hill Road by the Mauch Chunk Opera House.

Police Chief Joseph Schatz said four cars were illegally parked in the eastbound lane during a recent opera house show."We ticketed one guy who wasn't happy because there was not a no-parking sign there," Schatz said."We don't really need one because it is a road. You don't park in the middle of the Pennsylvania Turnpike because there isn't a sign there that says no parking."Sofranko reported earlier in the meeting that a business owner, who wished to remain anonymous, donated a vehicle to the police department.The vehicle will be used for undercover work.
