Palmerton Chamber unveils new letterhead

Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce has new letterhead.

The new design was displayed by Peter Kern, chamber president, when the organization met on Tuesday. Kern also briefly discussed the chamber's recently approved affiliation with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.Kern stressed that while the group is a part of the GLVCC, it still has maintained its designation as the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce, and is still part of the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development."We haven't given up our identity," he said. "It has tremendous advantages when we are considered to be part of a chamber with over 6,000 members. From a marketing standpoint, and from a business standpoint, I think it's going to be a very valuable tool."I think that what little we may lose is far outweighed by the benefits," Kern added. "I encourage every person who is a current member of the Carbon Chamber to maintain their membership."During the meeting chamber members also learned of a new custom tailoring shop.Timea Schmidt, owner of Love Your Closet at 316 Delaware Ave., designs and creates women's clothing, and provides clothing alterations for men and women.Schmidt said her business specializes in alterations, custom-tailoring, one of a kind clothing, draperies, and home decor. She said she can do anything that can be sewn, knitted, or crocheted, as well as light upholstery work."You give us a picture, an idea, and we work on it," Schmidt said. "Custom-tailoring takes time."Kern said the shop is "One of those stores; something that you can really enjoy."As a final point of interest, Kern announced that the tree lighting project in Palmerton is "going great."To date, over $32,000 has been raised, said Kern, who noted that contributions continue to come in.
