The Jim Thorpe National Bank 7th & 8th grade girls travel basketball team won the Mahanoy Area Basketball Tournament, which ran from March 15-17. The tournament contained local teams as well as teams from Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Scranton. The JTNB team was undefeated in pool play, beating Fountain Springs (36-16) on Friday and Shamokin (42-26) and Ridley Park (47-28) on Saturday. On Sunday, they beat Newport (41-32) in the semifinals and the Burma Ballers (35-22) in the finals. Team members include, front row from left, Jackie Condly, Payton Kovac, Jordan Waselus. Second row, coach Rob Kovac, Devon Lignore, Brianna Raabe, Brenna Karnish and Kayley Kovac. Gene Binder also coached the team. Kayley Kovac, Brenna Karnish and Brianna Raabe were named to the All-Tournament Team.
