Lehighton Area Pool Pals continues to support Baer Memorial Pool, Lehighton. Recently they purchased new bathing suits for the lifeguards at the pool.

Pool Pals has purchased a pool security system that included both web cams and alarms and Pool Pals continues to pay the yearly cost of the monitoring of the alarms.This year, once again, they contributed $2,000 to help defray the cost of swimming lessons, a donation they have contributed every year since the pool was reopened.They are looking to purchase a small playground for the baby pool area. Horsehead Industries has committed $1,250 matching grant toward this playground project.To raise the funds necessary to continue giving, they hold various fundraising events. They held their annual Cabin Fever dance in February. Next years event will be held Feb. 22, 2014. Get your tickets early based on the fun had by everyone at this years event.They held an annual Chinese auction/yard sale held in conjunction with Lehighton Rotary on April 6 and 7. The fifth annual event will held early April 2014.Their second annual Family Fun Night will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. There will be fun for all ages, swimming, dancing, refreshments, swimming races and relays, water games, greased watermelon, goldfish scramble, volleyball, hula hoops, water balloons and music by a DJ. There is a fee with proceeds benefiting the swimming pool. For additional information, call Diane at (610) 377-5275.Their second annual Craft Fair will be held Nov. 2. This years Craft Fair will be held in conjunction with Lehighton Rotary, with Santa appearing at this event.They will be holding their second annual Christmas caroling event on Dec. 18. They invite any other group interested in singing along to join us.
