Although no formal action has been taken, there is consideration being given to demolishing the closed St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Summit Hill.

The stately church, located at Hazard and Market Street across from the Summit Hill Post Office, was one of 47 parishes closed by the Diocese of Allentown in the summer of 2008.St. Stanislaus Church, which was founded in 1924, was merged with St. Joseph's Church.The church is currently boarded up with "no trespassing" signs on the snow-covered steps.The "Honor Roll," a plaque listing the names of Summit Hill soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during World War II, who made the supreme sacrifice during World War II, is located next to the church.Matt Kerr, public information specialist for the Diocese of Allentown, confirmed that the church might be demolished.He said church officials are discussing this possibility "but no contract has been signed."Kerr said if demolition does occur, it would not include the parsonage, which is attached to the church.The last service held in St. Stanislaus Church was on July 13, 2008 during "Transition Sunday." During that service, the parishes of St. Joseph and St. Stanislaus merged into one parish.
