Kidder EAC plans spring workshop

The Kidder Environmental Advisory Commission met on Wednesday evening for its first meeting of 2013.

The members have set a tentative date of May 11 for the annual spring workshop. The Carbon County Environmental Center will be presenting a program on "Birds of Prey." At this time the date and agenda is still subject to change.The committee reported that it has distributed 2,320 copies of the "Green & Blue Pages" to date.The fresh water mussel study is under way. The committee is in the process of determining which waters within the township have previously had mussels and which are currently capable of sustaining mussel growth.Bob Dobash has spoken with Warren Possinger, Hickory Run State Park, regarding the multiuse trails project. They are continuing to make progress.The Landmark Inventory project is still in process.The committee has begun working on a new watershed study in the township. During the past few years road flooding is occurring more often than in previous years. The study should help to identify which roads are being affected and will help to prevent further flooding.The Kidder EAC meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Kidder Township building at 7 p.m.
