Rodrigues named February's Guiding Star

Kyla Lauren Rodrigues, a daughter of Kimberly and Kreg Rodrigues of Palmerton, has been named February's Guiding Star by the Concourse Club of Palmerton. Other family members include a brother, Kole.

Kyla is a senior at Palmerton Area High School. She is secretary of the National Honor Society, secretary of Student Council, president of yearbook, a member of Future Business Leaders of America, a member of Student Forum, captain of the field hockey team and a member of the track and field team.Her hobbies include reading, nail art and baking. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and running.Her community activities include volunteering at church, Family Promise and Special Olympics.She plans to attend Moravian College to major in accounting and to play field hockey.The Concourse Club honors five Guiding Stars from Palmerton Area High School each year. A Guiding Star is a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class and is involved in both school and community activities.Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved gold Guiding Star charm, and a $100 award from the Concourse Club.
