In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, the Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 visited students in pre-school through eighth grade at Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Lansford. Fire Chief Marek and several volunteer firefighters spoke to students and faculty about ways to stay safe, prevent fires, and what to do if a fire breaks out. Each class then had a chance to view and explore the fire trucks and equipment, ask the firefighters questions, and thank them for protecting them. Seen at left, is a volunteer firefighter, who is displaying his uniform and equipment to the students to help ease their fears.
