Lehighton Jr. wins high school Envirothon

The Lehighton Jr. team from Lehighton Area High School took first place during the 2012 high school Envirothon on Thursday. The team scored 358 1/2. Members of Lehighton Jr. are, front on rock, from left, Rob Barowski, teacher and advisor, Hannah Barton, Sarah Kistler, and Dylan Andrew. Second row, on rock, Alden Everett and Tyler Martz. Accompanying the team are Lion Ed Dudley, past district governor, and Scott Dudley, Lions Club district governor, left and second from left; and Carbon County Commissioners Thomas J. Gerhard and Wayne Nothstein,second from right and right. Other teams that placed are: Palmerton 1 of Palmerton Area High School, second; Lehighton 41 of Lehighton Area High School, third; and Lehighton Lite of Lehighton Area High School, honorable mention. Lehighton Jr. now goes on to compete in the state Envirothon on May 22 and 23 at the University of Pittsburgh.
