Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of SR309 and Schuylkill Ave, Tamaqua, just before 5 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a motorcyclist struck by a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Sarah Bernardo, 37, Tamaqua, was was driving a tan KIA north on Schuylkill Avenue towards the stop sign and SR309 intersection, when the vehicle reportedly rear-ended William Welsh, 44, Coaldale, who was waiting on his Harley Davidson motorcycle at the stop sign.

William chose to take himself to the hospital. He also had a passenger, Dorrine Welsh.

Two children were also in the vehicle with Bernardo. No serious injuries were reported.

Responding were Tamaqua and Rush Township police, Tamaqua ambulance, rescue squad and firefighters. Fire police controlled traffic around the accident for the duration.

Both the motorcycle and SUV had to be towed from the scene.
