A witness said after striking the sign the driver backed the car up and proceeded onto Center Avenue. The witness also said they believed the hit and run car was a Dodge Neon.Police followed the fluid trail which led them to a gray in color 1999 Dodge Neon which was registered to Kathleen Ann Heine, 49, of 306 Center Ave. Attempts to make contact with Heine were unsuccessful. Police then had the Dodge towed. At about 11:30 a.m. police again attempted to make contact with Heine at her residence and were notified by the communications center that Heine was reporting her vehicle missing. Police were then able to make contact with Heine at her place of employment. When questioned about the incident Heine first denied hitting anything with her vehicle but then did admit to imbibing alcohol after work and striking the stop sign.Police said they have charged Heine with a misdemeanor count of accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, and several summary counts including duty to give information and render aid, reckless driving, careless driving, and driving on the right side of the road.
