Fatal car fire, house blaze likely linked

Police say they believe a fatal car fire and a house explosion in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains are related.

Authorities identified the person inside the burning car early Monday morning as Robert Colthrist. The car is registered to the address of the home that burned at right around the same time. The Pocono Record reports the home that burned in Pocono Summit, Coolbaugh Township, was under foreclosure and Colthrist, who was living there, was scheduled to be evicted from the house later in the day.The paper also reported that Colthrist had gone through a divorce. The Monroe County coroner's office says it appears some kind of accelerant was used to set the car on fire. Forensic investigators are analyzing both fires. The Pocono paper reported two explosions occurred in both fire incidents. The investigation into the house fire and death of Colthrist is continuing and is being handled by the Pocono Regional Police Department.
