The Schuylkill County Prison Board held a special meeting Wednesday at the courthouse in Pottsville to take action on a personnel matter dealing with a correctional officer.

The greater part of the meeting was held in executive session to discuss the problem and when the meeting was opened to the public the board acted on two quick motions.One motion was to approve the action of Warden Eugene Berdanier in suspending Joann Cromyak, of Schuylkill Haven, who was only recently hired. The second motion was to give her a written statement for the reason the action was taken and to allow her to seek a hearing or accept the warden's decision.The board members would not discuss what led to the action because of a possible litigation but it was learned it dealt with something which occurred at a training site in Berks County where the county sends its correctional officers for training.
