Although some of the activities of United Way's Day of Caring in Monroe County had to be changed, good work for various community institutions was still being done during the heavy rain of Sept. 24. David Rodriguez, vice president of Citizen's Bank and manager of the Tannersville branch, as well as Lucille Lama, also a vice president and and assistant manager at the Brodheadsville branch, worked for several hours helping the Brodheadsville Head Start organize its collection of books instead of doing the pre-weather scheduled painting. Doing such volunteer work is an "opportunity to give back," said Rodriguez who, along with Lama, has been giving his volunteer time for several years.
