Dimaggio's La Dolce Casa is a beautiful restaurant with great food and service. Tamaqua should be ever so happy to have such a family and such a business in our little town.Our daughter, Kim Griffith, and our granddaughters, Brenna and Mikaela, were drowned in a flash flood in Pittsburgh on Aug. 19. A benefit was organized and hosted by Alfie Picone and the Picone Family on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at La Dolce Casa. The entire restaurant was filled with people. In addition, those who could not attend on Tuesday purchased takeouts and sales on Monday also went to the family.There are not enough words to say thank you for all they did and for all the money they raised for Kim's remaining children, Emily and Christian. Alfie kept telling me "We must do something for the children." Well, he sure did something for them. Organizing that benefit showed the genuine concern he had for our family.Alfie and his family are a special and remarkable family. This world is filled with so much pain and sorrow, but Alfie and his family are certainly to be praised for their generosity.Charlie and Sallie Mateyak and Families
