Franklin crash injures two

Two persons were injured late Tuesday afternoon when involved in a t-bone type collision along SR209 in Franklin Township. The crash occurred just after 5 p.m. as a female motorist was traveling north. As she cleared the divided highway she attempted to make a u-turn to travel south when her car was struck broadside by a north bound sport utility vehicle. Members of the Franklin Township fire company had to free the trapped woman from her car. The woman and the male driver of the SUV were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to a local hospital. The crash occurred just north of the intersection of SR209 and Cherry Hill Road. Franklin township fire police closed down SR209 and detoured traffic around the scene utilizing Cherry Hill road and Elm street. Franklin Township police are investigating the incident.
