An engagement ring, lost more than 50 years ago, was found by Mrs. John Evans while working in the garden at her home in Tamaqua. The ring, a heavy 18-karat gold band, was lost by Mrs. Josiah C. Sparks, the former Carrie Irene DePui, who then occupied the house. She made repeated searches but was unable to locate it. Mrs. Evans gave the ring to Mrs. Clarence Tinley, a daughter of Mrs. Sparks, who lives next door. The ring was not tarnished and the initials inside the band can be seen as clearly as the day it was lost.
