EP planners discuss comments about Churchview Downs

During the reorganization of the East Penn Planning Commission Brian Eickhoff was named as chairman, Jonathan Ammary as vice chairman and Deanna Cunfer as secretary.

Required information was not in the township office on time for the AROCC Churchview Downs trotting-horse training track - the last items were turned in Jan. 4. Attorney Gretchen Sterns said it had been difficult with the holidays. The 90 days for action will begin Feb. 3 and run to May 3.Comments by township engineer Bruce Steigerwalt were discussed. He said the plan would not be able to be discussed in February because the Carbon County Planning Commission comments would not be available, but because of the way the days fall the CCPC will meet on Feb. 15 instead of the day after the East Penn planners. Consequently the comments should be available.Steigerwalt said the checklist he received is missing the last page. He said sewage has been taken care of, but it will have to be resubmitted with the new plan.Sterns said she wanted to go to the township office and pay for copies of all material it has.Steigerwalt said the planning module testing was done only on the property of the East Penn Airport. If any additional waivers are requested they must be in written form. He said he thought contours could be waived in large sections of land that will not be used. There are to be no dwelling units so there is no rec fee. Adjoining subdivisions and property owners must be listed.Secretary Deanna Cunfer said the township has not received a plan certified by the previous engineer and asked if the present engineer, Mike Brinkash Jr. of Brinkash Associates, is comfortable with signing for him.It was tabled until the Feb. 21 meeting.
