Bowmanstown receives ARC funds

Officials gathered recently to present Bowmanstown Borough an $8,374 ARC grant to purchase a new dissolved oxygen system to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the borough's sewage treatment plant. The system only uses half the demand charge that is currently being billed, which provides an energy savings by adding the appropriate dissolved oxygen into the system, which means less energy to pump or waste. The system can be further upgraded to a laptop computer, which can track and do trend analysis of usage in the borough. Participating in the presentation were, front, from left, Commissioner Charles Getz, Commissioner William O'Gurek, William Ravert, council president; Mayor Keith G. Billig; Jeffrey Box, president and CEO of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance; and Commissioner Wayne Nothstein; and back, Harry Hoover, ICS & ES; Bill Richards, representing Sen. John Yudichak; David Dreisbach, plant operator; and Diane Reposh, enterprise development specialist, NEPA Alliance.
