14 year Army veteran mobilized, activated

Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Heather L. Green has been mobilized and activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operation New Dawn or Operation Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 213th Personnel Company based at Fort Indianatown Gap, Annville.

The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.Green, a human resource officer, has served in the military for 14 years.She is the daughter of Bonnie L. and Neil C. Green of Forest Inn Road, Palmerton.The lieutenant graduated in 1996 from Palmerton High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pa. In 2008 and 2010, she received masters degrees from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale.
