Six County Firemen's Association Convention Parade

The streets in McAdoo were lined with children and families for the 107th Six County Firemen's Association Convention Parade, hosted again this year by the McAdoo Fire Company.

They have done so for two years. The Hazleton Fire Company co-hosted the parade with McAdoo this year.Next year, Danville's fire department and area fire companies will host the parade.The Six-County Firemen's Association was organized in 1904. It represents firefighters in Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Montour, Northumberland and Schuylkill counties. During the parade, firefighters and volunteers wore red and blue Hawaiian shirts while sitting and judging in front of the McAdoo Fire Company. McAdoo Assistant Fire Chief Tony Vigna pointed out the cost of the parade, convention, and other recent services and events to be over $25,000. Firefighters and volunteers with the McAdoo's fire company held fundraisers and other money raising programs to help cover the cost of the convention. A celebration was held at the McAdoo Fire Company following the parade. Many trophies were given to various apparatus and other related categories.
