The Pennsylvania Senior Corps Diakon RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) is seeking volunteers to help in the SHINE After-School program, which is sponsored by Lehigh Carbon Community College, Nesquehoning site.

SHINE is a program designed to help children in grades one through five by helping improve their educational and social skills and enabling them to learn to their fullest potential. The after school program is in session from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday at L.B. Morris and Penn-Kidder elementary schools in Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley Elementary School in Nesquehoning, and at Shull-David Elementary School in Lehighton.

Volunteers are needed to tutor the children and to lend a helping hand when it is needed.

If you or someone you know has a few hours a week to help in this very worthwhile project or for more information, contact Jean at RSVP at (610) 377-2021 or e-mail
