Ski season begins, and so do thefts

The ski season began over the past weekend at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township, and so did the theft incidents at the resort.

State police at Lehighton said the 2005 Jeep Wrangler of Mitchell D. Davis, 22, of Landenburg, Chester County, was entered while parked in the upper lot of the resort. Damage was done to the locking mechanism to gain entry. Removed from the vehicle was a Glock 27 handgun that was locked in the center consolde and an I-pod. Total estimated value was the property was set at $600.The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee of Richard Kimmel, 21, of Branch Dale, Schuylkill County, was entered while parked in the upper lot. The locking mechanism was damaged to gain entry. Removed from the vehicle ws a Volcrom wallet, silver I-pod and Blackberry Curve cell phone. The estimated value of the missing items was set at $625.Both incidents were reported at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10.
