Area man celebrates 95th birthday

James "Jim" Frederickson, a former resident of Hometown for 35 years, enjoyed a surprise party on Sept. 13 to celebrate his 95th birthday.

Jim is currently a resident at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Geriatric Ward in Coaldale.Friends and family that helped him celebrate include his son David and wife Gale; his daughter Ruth Lang; his grandsons Dan Lang and wife Jane, David and Jimmy; great-granddaughter Emily Lang; niece Louise Ruskoski and her son Mark from New Jersey; Jimmy Stuart and wife Marie, and his friends at the geriatric ward.Jim was married to Mae E. (Laudig) for 57 years.Jim started working for General Motors in 1937 at ts Linden, N.J. plant, and then transferred to the plant in Framingham, Mass., in 1948, where he became superintendent of Painting Operations. He held the position until he retired in 1974 and moved back to Hometown.He loves hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Over the years he made many beautiful tables, clocks, and more for family and friends.
