A Pine Grove man faces a simple assault charge after a Christmas Eve altercation.

Matthew Walter Herring, 37, was arguing with Renee Mae Herring at 6:15 p.m. at 908 Long Run Road, Wayne Township, said state police at Schuylkill Haven. The argument escalated, with the victim being physically assaulted. She sustained minor injuries.
