One person was injured Wednesday morning in a crash along Route 443 in West Penn Township.

The crash happened at 9 a.m. when an eastbound pickup collided with a garbage truck just west of the intersection with Cold Spring Road. The pickup continued after contact, crossing the road, striking guide rails along the westbound lanes.

The injured person was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton Ambulance before being transported to an area hospital. West Penn Fire responded, with fire police shutting down the roadway. West Penn Township police are investigating the incident. The garbage truck is owned and operated by  Strohl's Trash Hauling.
