West Penn approves Dollar General Store plans

A proposed Dollar General Store to be situated in West Penn Township has been given a stamp of approval.

On a unanimous measure, the township’s board of supervisors on Monday approved the planning commission’s recommendations to conditionally approve Dollar General’s land development plan contingent upon stormwater runoff calculations, freeboard requirements, and the highway occupancy being granted, along with some minor comments from the Lehigh Engineering LLC letter dated Dec. 14.

Additionally, supervisors adopted a resolution concerning Dollar General’s conditional approval for its final land development plan.

That action comes after supervisors last month adopted a resolution conditionally approving the final minor subdivision plan for Dollar General based upon compliance with the engineer’s review letter and planning commission comments.

Also at that time, the board granted three modifications to the Dollar General land development plan concerning a request to submit preliminary/final plan, modification of the plan’s scale, and modification of the scale of profiles.

It was noted at that time that the planning commission recommended the land development plan be tabled based upon receiving a copy of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation review letter and answers to additional planning commission questions.

The store will be on Route 309 south of the St. Luke’s Urgent Care.
