WEPOSC meeting

The West End Park and Open Space Commission is scheduled to meet at 7 o’clock tonight at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.

Auxiliary meets

The Legion Auxiliary is to meet at 7 o’clock tonight at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert.

Crime watch meeting

In the interest of keeping the town and neighborhoods as safe as possible, Eldred Township will be hosting a meeting tonight at 7 p.m. with trooper Maglulio of the Pennsylvania State Police to discuss how to set up and operate a successful Community Watch Program.

The format will include information and a question and answer session.

The meeting is being held at the Eldred Township Municipal Building, on Kunkletown Road in Kunkletown.

All members of the public and representatives of other Community Watch and Crime Watch organizations are invited to attend. Anyone interested in being a member of, or organizing a Community Watch in their neighborhood, is encouraged to participate.

Elder Justice

The Monroe County Elder Abuse Task Force invites the public to attend the Third Annual Elder Justice Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

It is being hosted by Lehigh Valley Health Network-Pocono at Hughes Cancer Center’s Serenity and Tranquility Rooms.

There is no fee, but seating is limited so registration is required.

The day includes presentations and discussions by professionals and experts on critical elder abuse topics facing older adults in Monroe County, as well as local community vendor tables/representatives, information and more. Lunch is included.

PVEN board

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network’s board of directors will be meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian church in Brodheadsville.

Spotted Lanternfly

State Rep. Jack Rader is sponsoring an informative seminar on this invasive pest at the Polk Township Firehouse at 6 p.m. Thursday.

PV board meets

The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the district office in Brodheadsville.

K of C meeting

The Knights of Columbus will meet at the American Legion Post in Gilbert at 7 p.m. Thursday instead of at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

Breeding birds ID

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center and Pocono Avian Research Center will be holding a Learn the Birds: Birding Identification Series.

On Thursday, the Pocono Avian Research Center will hold a session from 7 to 8:30 p.m. where one can learn some new tricks or hone some old skills at identifying breeding birds. All ages are welcome.

There is a cost for non-members and children. EE Center members are free.

Pocono Old-Tyme

The regular June meeting of the Pocono Old-Tyme Farm Equipment Association will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the New Museum Building meeting room at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert.

New members are welcome.

WELL board

The West End Little League board of directors will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Park on Rt. 715.

This meeting is a closed meeting. Next Thursday is the open meeting for the group, at the same time and place.

Center closed

The Chestnuthill Senior Center, meeting at the Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville, and other county centers, will be closed Friday in observance of Flag Day.
