WEISSPORT COUNCIL

Weissport Council approved the following business this week:

• The borough is looking at purchasing a document scanner and an external hard drive to convert documents to digital format. It would be less expensive to do the scanning themselves rather than hire an outside firm.

Shank will check with CoStars on prices.

• Adopted the ordinance for the registration, inspection, and licensing of residential rental properties and housing occupancy within the borough.

• Voted to purchase four new swings for the swing set in the Weissport Playground. The swings will be bought from Play World at $41 each plus $75 shipping. The motion is to spend no more than $250 for the new swings.

• Daniel Schwoyer, from Coaldale, will be hired as a part-time public works employee at $17 an hour for 20 hours per week. His starting date is April 24.

• There is a problem with wasps inside and outside the borough hall. The wasps appear to be coming in through the light fixtures. Seitz Brothers will provide an estimate on exterminating them.

• Approved a new phone system for the borough hall. The cost would be approximately $1,800 and will come from PenTeleData. The new system would allow borough departments to have separate lines and voicemail and improve efficiency.
