Weatherly students recognized

Weatherly Area School District students were recognized for their athletic and academic accomplishments during Wednesday night’s board meeting.

Student representative Jillian Bartel introduced eighth- and ninth-grade athletes. Frankie Willis finished the junior high cross-country team’s Schuylkill league Cross-country Championship at Tuscarora with a time of 11:15 on Oct. 18.

Freshman Scotty Zoscin finished the varsity boys Schuylkill League Cross Country Championship at Tuscarora with a time of 16:43 minutes.

He competed in the district meet at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course on Oct. 25, taking third place at the meet earing a District XI medal. He went on to compete in the PIAA State Cross Country Championship in Hershey on Nov. 4, finishing in the top 10 of the competition.

Bartel also introduced the district’s Senior of the Month for October, Julia Hinkle.

Hinkle is the daughter of Mary and John of Weatherly. She serves as the vice president of the Class of 2018, vice president of the WAHS Chapter of the National Honor Society and is a varsity cheerleader and member of the high school chorus. She also volunteers with the National Honor Society projects.
