Weatherly board member: Scrutinize CCTI

Weatherly board member Shay Wagner told the board last week that she attended her first Carbon Career and Technical Institute board meeting, which she called “eye-opening.”

Stressing that the district believes that students are getting a quality education at the school, she said the school’s administration isn’t as “fiscally responsible as they should be.”

She went on to say that it would be irresponsible on the board of the Weatherly board not to scrutinize the CCTI budget and operations.

She also stressed that there are no plans to reduce the number of students the district sends to CCTI.

Weatherly has rejected the proposed CCTI budget.

Lehighton and Palmerton Area school district have also questioned CCTI’s spending plan, totaling $8.52 million.
