Weatherly alumni board of directors meets

The Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association Board of Directors met on Oct. 17 in the Weatherly Area Middle School Large Group Instruction Room.

There were nine members in attendance.

President Todd Gimbi called the meeting to order. The minutes from the June meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report given by Jennifer O’Donnell was also reviewed and approved. A moment of silence was held in remembrance of Iona (Hartz) Krex, Thomas Driscoll, Rosanna (Graaf) Coxe, Harold Rohde, Earl Davis and Joshua Cooper Naegele.

The Alumni Night Basketball game dates were announced for this season. The Alumni Game Nights will be Jan. 3 and Feb. 3, 2020.

The group got three new members at the Weatherly Festival in August.

Gimbi, chairman of the membership committee, reported that there are currently 440 paid members. He also reported the completion of annual membership late notice process and the updating of the membership roster.

The board purchased mats for the gym. The mats will have the alumni logo on each side and will say, “Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association.”

The board also purchased a plaque to go with the tree that was planted when the Shepards visited.

The board received thank-you notes from the following scholarship and award winners: Nikki Polivka, Katie Graham, Kevin Osifat, Nick Berger, Mason Podgers, Abigail Hernandez, Laila Panckeri, Lillian Newton, Jessica Maddock and Samantha Knepper.

The Music Parents sent a thank-you note for the donation. Also, a letter of thanks was received from Teresa Young, Anthony DeSpirito, Jeremy Stetler, and Sarah Minnick for the monetary gift to help Weatherly Area High School juniors and seniors with Lehigh Carbon Community College’s dual enrollment classes.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be in the Weatherly Middle School LGI Room at 7 p.m. on Jan. 16, 2020.
