Update: Bullet found in Panther Valley cafeteria

Published March 19. 2018 11:11AM

A bullet was found on the floor of the Panther Valley Junior/Senior High School this morning, prompting a lockdown for several hours while police and dogs searched the school.

No other threats were found and the lockdown was lifted at 1:50 p.m.

Police from Summit Hill, Lansford, Nesquehoning and Coaldale responded, as well as state police, and Salisbury K-9 patrol.

The 45-caliber bullet was found immediately after a lockdown drill was conducted this morning.

Superintendent Dennis Kergick said the students missed lunch, but everyone was safe.

The building and all cars were searched, according to Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos.

A camera is located in the cafeteria, but Fittos said there are no suspects at this point.

Check back for updates as they become available.

“Parents will be notified when we do have more information.”

Sounds like the school just magically locked itself down with no reason!
Probably some Conservative, Redneck Kid! Kick them out, they drag down the achievements of the other students. Republicans don't deserve an education.
DigginOut, how do you know it wasn’t a staff member? And as far as “Republicans don’t deserve an education”, that’s a pretty simple-minded point of view from someone who, I doubt, has any more than a HS Diploma... if that (GED from a prison cell perhaps); this point derived from your improper use of the possessive “they’re” in stating “their dragging down the achievements...”

To even consider Panther Valley School District an “education” is far out of order, but I’m sure it fits you just fine.
