Notes ...Schwartz picked up a 10-0 major decision over Lukas Ferguson at 106 pounds at the Indian Duals, and finished the tournament 4-1 ... Pleasant Valley had several wrestlers turn in solid showings at the Iron Hammer Invitational over the weekend. Womack (160, second), Frable (182, second), Mazzella (195, third), Anderson (138, third), Tartamella (145, third), Dorn (170, third) and Syracuse (152, sixth) were among the Bears’ ranked wrestlers to place. Hannah Hunter (120, fourth), Trevor Kibler (fourth, 126), Gentry Knapp (fourth, 132), Everett Lata (106, fifth) and Logan Segeda (113, fifth) also medaled for PV ... Christman suffered a tough 9-1 loss to Saucon Valley’s Nicholas Rosengrant on Tuesday. Rosengrant entered the week 18-6 ... Whiteman looks to be in good form heading into this weekend’s Schuylkill League Tournament, where he is a defending champion. The senior went 5-0 at the Indian Duals over the weekend, with all five wins coming by fall in the first period. Only one of those matches went past 1:00; a pin of East Stroudsburg North’s Tashi Sherpa in 1:05 ... Newhall earned a solid 8-6 win in overtime over Fronheiser Saturday at the Indian Duals ... Zeigenfuss and Herron had a good match Saturday at the Indian Duals. The Lehighton junior pulled out a solid 5-2 decision over his counterpart, and finished the event 5-0 ... Mordaunt and Williams were again impressive at the Indian Duals. Both went 5-0 to stay unbeaten, with each recording three first period pins while also receiving two forfeits ... Strouse went 5-0 over the weekend at the Juniata Duals. Steigerwalt went 4-1 with three pins, and enters the rankings this week as an honorable mention selection at 132 pounds. Coccio, Krell and Wickersham also went 4-1 for the Raiders over the weekend ... Hunter handed Flamer his only loss at the Indian Duals, pinning the freshman in 1:01. Flamer went on to post four pins to close out the day, while Hunter finished 5-0 ... Schaffer has won seven of his matches by fall this season ... Aaron Eidem

(285), who went 24-10 a year ago, is expected to return to Panther Valley’s lineup soon after suffering a broken hand earlier in the season. That’s the good news. The bad news? Flamer likely gets bumped out of the varsity lineup. Here’s hoping the Panthers’ talented freshman can find a spot, even if it’s wrestling in JV matches, as he’s had a breakthrough season thus far.
