Two Tuscarora hiking events are planned

Two hiking events are planned for Tuscarora State Park in Barnesville.

On May 9, naturalist Robin Tracey of Tuscarora State Park will lead a wildflower walk at Swatara State Park. The trail is 8 miles long and moderate. The trail runs parallel to Swatara Creek.

Participants will be hiking down the old steel bridge and crossing to make a loop around the back part of the park. Also, the group will be hiking down to Bordner cabin. Those attending will meet in the parking lot at Trout Run just off Route 443 in Pine Grove at 10 a.m. Bring a lunch and water.

Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and get along with other pets and people. Contact Tracey at 570-467-2506 for more information. Shine only.

The second hike will be led by Tracey on the Crow, Lake View and Spirit trails at 10:30 a.m. on May 17. The hike is 9 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The hike combines the best of the trails in Tuscarora State Park.

Meet in the Crow Trail parking lot off Tuscarora Mountain Road. Call Tracey between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for more information or weather conditions. This is a dog friendly hike but all pets must be leashed and get along with other pets and people. Shine only and bring a lunch.
