Two neighbors launch storage business

Two friends who met on a golf course christened the opening of their storage business last month with a ribbon cutting and donation drive.

When Tim Fisher and Tyler Haydt first met, they found they had a lot in common.

They shared similar stances on how to run a business — and unbeknown to them before that day — the two lived right across the street from one another.

“We hit it off well,” Fisher added.

Fisher is an attorney, and Haydt, a custom homebuilder. They started working together on real estate investments and commercial development, but about two years ago, the duo decided to set their partnership with brick and mortar.

Last week, Fisher and Haydt hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their new business Load and Lock, a 216-unit storage facility located on Meckesville Road in Albrightsville.

“We thought this particular location had a really good opportunity for storage,” Fisher said. “There was a lack of supply of storage space and square footage available.”

“We saw an opportunity and tried to capitalize on it,” he added.

Fisher said the contracting process for the facility, which sits on a 15-acre lot, took about eight months; the weather caused construction delays.

“Mother Nature wasn’t helping us,” Fisher said. “But we persevered, and here we are.”

Load and Lock has been in operation for about three months, and Haydt said once the facility is close to full, they will start looking to expand. He estimates about 200 more units can be added.

Along with the ribbon cutting, Load and Lock collected donations for the Valor Clinic, a nonprofit organization that assists local veterans and families in need. Mark Baylis, the founder of Valor, came to the facility to accept the donations.

“We’re a large version of a grassroots organization,” Baylis said.

“You really can’t overstate how important this kind of stuff is to us.”
