Two face drug charges after Summit Hill stops

Two people are facing charges following two traffic stops made recently by Summit Hill police.

Police observed a 1994 Jeep Cherokee traveling on Route 209 at 10:14 p.m. on May 5 at with an off-road light illuminating and the rear lights not illuminating. A traffic stop was made.

The driver was identified as Thomas James Hosler, 18, of Palmerton. While speaking with Hosler police detected the odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and a large clear baggie containing a green leaf like substance eventually determined to be marijuana was found under the front passenger seat.

Hosler admitted smoking some marijuana prior to the stop and it was determined he was driving while impaired. He was taken for a blood draw with the results testing positive for a controlled substance. Hosler also admitted the inspection sticker on his vehicle was obtained illegally from a friend.

As a result police charged Hosler with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, general lighting requirements and official inspection certification of inspection.

The second stop was made at 10:34 p.m. on July 12 along Route 902 when police observed a 1999 GMC Sierra with off-road light illuminating.

The driver was identified as Ken Wilson, 41, of Lansford. While speaking with Wilson officers detected the odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and a black bag that contained two pipes with residue and a “skull” grinder with suspected marijuana was found on the passenger side floor. Wilson declined to provide a statement to police.

As a result of the stop Wilson has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
