An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Tamaqua onFeb. 27 at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Hours will be from 1-6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.Appointments may be made by calling 800-733-2767 or by registering online at
www.redcross.org/YMCATamaqua.Leadership workshopThe next step in local efforts to reduce the stigma of addiction recovery will be a leadership workshop, to be held Feb. 25 at Trinity United Church of Christ.The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with training to be provided by the Pennsylvania Recovery Organizations Alliance (Pro-A) through a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the Department of Health and Human Services.Sponsors include the Stepping Stones Recovery Foundation, STEP-Up Tamaqua, Safer Streets for Tamaqua's Little Feet and the Skook Recovers.
