Tamaqua Police issued the following citations this week.

• Michael Charles Hill, 26, of Tamaqua, was cited for providing false identification to law enforcement on Feb. 16.

The landlord of an apartment building on West Broad Street found a man sleeping in the hallway, at 12:05 p.m., and called police. The man identified himself as Christopher Hill, but a records check disagreed with that identification. The man then admitted he was Michael Hill and there was a warrant for his arrest.

As officers prepared to take him to the police station, they conducted a search and found four syringes, empty plastic bags and straws.

Hill was turned over to an officer from the Schuylkill County Adult Probation Office. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and defiant trespass.

• Darrell Richard Startzel, 29, of Barnesville, was charged with providing false information and making a false statement on a firearms ownership application.

Startzel attempted to buy a firearm at Ed’s Sports Shop on Nov. 11, 2017. He checked no in the box related to being under indictment for a felony or crime which could result in imprisonment for one or more years. The records check came back with an indictment from a Dec. 16, 2016, retail theft incident.

• Owen Bass, 19, of West Broad Street, Tamaqua, was cited for retail theft on Feb. 17. Bass reportedly went in to Fegley’s Mini Mart on Center Street at 5:20 a.m. He was observed placing a pack of peanut butter cups in his pants. When the clerk asked about the candy, Bass said he put them back. He left before police arrived.

Mini mart employees provided a copy of the store’s surveillance footage capturing the incident.

• A call for a suspicious car in the parking lot near the Owl Creek Reservoir resulted in two people being charged.

The call was made at 4:42 p.m. on Feb. 17, reporting a black Dodge Charger, with heavily tinted windows, which had been in the lot for more than an hour. Officers found the engine running and no response to their taps on the windows. They tried the doors to see if they were locked. They weren’t.

Inside the Dodge, officers found two naked adults, Keith James Schlosser, 35, of Tamaqua, and Danielle Jean Neff, 28, of Lansford.

The duo explained they were driving when it started to snow. They pulled into the lot while waiting out the storm.

Both were cited for disorderly conduct. Schlosser was also cited for driving an unregistered vehicle as the registration on the Dodge expired in September 2017.
