State police investigate crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on crashes investigated by troopers recently, one being a hit and run.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:16 p.m. on March 11 along Greenhill Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Jacob Ganz, 37, of Albrightsville, was operating a 2003 Ford F350 truck southbound when he lost control. The truck struck a ditch on the right side, then proceeded forward and struck a pole. Ganz was not injured. He was cited for the crash.

• The hit and run was reported on March 14 in Ross Township, Monroe County, in a parking lot located at 821 Wilkes-Barre Turnpike (Route 999). Troopers said a driver was using the parking lot for a turnaround when his vehicle sideswiped a parked 2010 Jeep Liberty. The driver then fled the scene. Damages to the Jeep were to the rear passenger side.

• Timothy T. Sheeran, 24, of Kunkletown, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:27 p.m. Monday on Silver Spring Boulevard, Eldred Township. State police said he was driving a 1996 Chrysler Cirrus southbound when he lost control of the vehicle. It left the roadway, entered a muddy field and began to roll over. Police said the driver said he believes the car rolled over two times. It came to rest on its roof and was towed from the scene.

Police said Sheeran was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
