State police investigate crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 22 along Greenway Lane, in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said on Aug. 22 they responded to a residence whose owner reported his mailbox was struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene. The property owner found a vehicle parked up the road from the scene with damages. An investigation revealed that Robert H. Bunch, 35, of Palmerton, was driving a 2006 Nissan X-Terra which was involved in the damage to the mailbox. Bunch was not injured. He was charged for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:23 a.m. on Aug. 25 along Interchange Road (Route 209), in Franklin Township, Carbon County. Troopers identified the drivers involved as a 17-year-old female from Roslyn, Montgomery County, driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra; and Susan J. Williams, 66, of Lehighton, driving a 2011 Mazda CX9. Troopers said the Elantra sustained severe damages and had to be towed while the Mazda had front end damage but was driven from the scene.

Williams was injured and taken to St. Luke’s - Gnaden Huetten campus by Lehighton ambulance while the teen was not injured. The teen was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 11:19 a.m. on Aug. 30 along Interchange Road in Polk Township. Troopers said Roberto F. Faust, 30, of Kunkletown, was stopped in the southbound lane waiting to make a left turn into a service station when his 2018 Honda Civic was struck in the rear by a 2019 Chevrolet Trax driven by Catherine F. Grabinsky, 67, of Kunkletown.

Grabinsky sustained suspect minor injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital - Monroe Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Faust was not injured.

Troopers cited Grabinsky for following too closely.

• A crash happened at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Forest Inn Road with Fireline Road/Stoney Ridge Road.

Police said the operator of a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer was attempting to enter the intersection after stopping at the stop sign at Stoney Ridge and Fireline roads, and entered the path of a 2000 Dodge Neon going southbound on Forest Inn Road at the time. Police said the Blazer entered the roadway before it was clear and struck the Neon, damaging both vehicles.

Police said the driver of the Neon and a passenger reported minor injuries and were treated at the scene but refused medical transports. The driver of the Blazer was cited.

State police did not release the names of the drivers.
