A standoff in Schuylkill County on Wednesday ended peacefully when the suspect surrendered to police after eight hours.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers went to a residence in West Brunswick Township to serve a mental health warrant issued by Schuylkill County Crisis, on a 62-year-old woman. The woman refused to cooperate and threatened that she had guns inside the residence.

The state police special response unit responded and following several hours of negotiation the woman surrendered to troopers. She was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital South Campus, Pottsville, by a EMS unit. Troopers were assisted by Orwigsburg police and fire police.
