Schuylkill DUI checkpoint results

The North Central PA Regional DUI Enforcement Program has released the results of a Sobriety Check Point held Aug. 24 in Coaldale.

A total of 689 vehicles were contacted with 42 being detained for possible driving under the influence by the operators. A total of 11 officers participated, representing seven local law enforcement agencies.

There were three adult DUI-related arrests. Officers also wrote 20 traffic citations, one seat belt citation, made one criminal arrest and issued 22 warnings.

Additional checkpoints and patrols will be conducted through Sept. 4 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.

The checkpoints and patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
