State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating several crashes recently on Schuylkill County roadways.

A crash occurred about 7:43 a.m. on Friday, April 29, along SR61 at Seven Stars Road, at the Cressona Mall in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Christopher J. Whalen, 30, of Schuylkill Haven, and Kimberly A. Edling, 36, of Centerport, Berks County, were both northbound in the right lane. Whalen said he looked down to get something and the front of his 2003 Toyota Corolla struck the rear of Edling's 2006 Nissan Xterra.Whalen and Edling were not injured but a passenger with Whalen, Andrew Pohronezny, 26, of Pottsville, sustained a minor injury but did not require immedidate medical attention.Troopers said Whalen was cited for the crash.Also on Friday, about 11:19 a.m., a crash occurred along SR209 in Branch Township. Troopers said Elizabeth A. Sabadish, 83, of Branchdale, was northbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo and attempting to turn left into the parking lot of a market while Casey R. Loftus, 20, of Tremont, was southbound in a 1998 GMC Jimmy. Troopers said Sabadish turned in front of Loftus and a collision occurred. Troopers said after impact both vehicles drifted into the lot and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Impalla operated by Brenda K. King, 42, of Tremont, who was stopped waiting to exit the lot.No one was injured. Troopers cited Sabadish for vehicle turning left.Troopers probed a crash that occurred about 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, along SR125 (Tremont Road), in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Karl K. Kimmel, 53, of Donaldson, was northbound in a 1992 Oldsmobile sedan when he crossed into the oncoming lane and sideswiped a 2001 Cadillac Deville operated by William E. Swingle Sr., 73, of Pine Grove.After impact Kimmel traveled about 100 feet north crossing both lanes of travel and came to rest about six feet off the west side of the road. Swingle traveled about 50 feet after impact and came to rest on the west side of the road. Damages were disabling to both vehicles.Kimmel, Swingle and his wife, Betty J. Swingle, 74, were all not injured.Troopers cited Kimmel for driving on roadways laned for traffic.Troopers investigated a hit and run crash that was reported about 10:18 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of the Weiss Market in Norwegian Township. Troopers said a parked 2010 Ford Escape was struck on the left front bumper area by an unknown driver who fled the scene.
