Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported investigating several crashes on Schuylkill County roads.

• A three-vehicle crash occurred at 4:38 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and Ben Titus Road, in Rush Township.

Troopers said Mark Trela, 68, of Hazle Township, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup southbound on 309 while Shane D. Gibbs, 21, of Allentown, was northbound driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger truck. Colin J. Knoll, 21, of Pine Grove, driving a 2019 Honda CRV, was stopped for a traffic light on Ben Titus Road.

Troopers said Trela attempted to make a left turn onto Ben Titus Road and turned in front of Gibbs. The front of Gibbs’ vehicle struck the passenger side rear of Trela’s vehicle. After impact Trela’s vehicle struck the front end of Knoll’s vehicle.

None of the drivers were injured. A passenger with Gibbs, Michael Z. Lengyel, 22, of Allentown, was evaluated at the scene by McAdoo EMS unit personnel but refused further treatment. The Ford and Dodge were towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Trela for the crash.

• A second crash was reported at 5:49 p.m. Sept. 19 along Route 924 in East Union Township. Troopers said Kevin R. Moore, 47, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler southbound when he said sun glare caused him to steer off the road. Moore attempted to get back onto the road but lost control with the Jeep crossing both lanes of travel before striking a tree along the east berm.

Moore was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus, for treatment of a hip injury, troopers said.

• Four people sustained suspected minor injuries on Thursday in a two-vehicle crash at 8:19 a.m. along Route 54 in Girardville.

State police at Frackville said Andrea N. Payne, 33, of Girardville, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape eastbound while Marie Burke, 72, of Girardville, driving a 2008 Dodge Journey, was turning westbound. Troopers said the front of the Escape hitting the driver side of the Journey.

Payne was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East Campus in Pottsville. Troopers said two occupants of the Journey had to be extricated. Burke and passengers Tiffany J. Hine, 38, and a 4-year-old boy (in a child safety seat), both of Mahanoy City, were all taken to the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Both vehicles were towed.
